CFDA and Rachel Roy team up with Barbie for charity auction

To celebrate the new Barbie Basics Collection, Twelve CFDA designers have created custom little black dresses along with accessories to auction on Ebay.

Among the designers chosen, are Rachel Roy whose little black dress is anything but. The one shoulder gold and turquoise frock is the only design that didn't play by the all black rules. BSF loves the bold rich colors as just as much as the brown Barbie that wears it.

Other designers include Kate Spade, Isaac Mizrahi, Lorraine Schwartz, Betsey Johnson,Tory Burch, and Monica Botkier. The proceeds from the auction which ends on February 7th, will go towards the CFDA scholarship fund.

The Black Issue - Part Due

Last year Italian Vogue made history by featuring an all black cast of fashion models for its August issue. Not only did the issue spark the debate of a "white out" in magazines and runways where people of color are grossly under represented, but it was one of the best selling magazines in Vogue's history.

While some may argue all this issue did was keep more black models out of work, it is hard to deny the creativity, art direction and amazing photos that capture Black Barbie in everything from swimsuits and stilettos to sequins and street attire.
